The Lake of Ardres Pays d'Opale

Take a family walk

Sometimes calm and peaceful in winter, sometimes lively and festive in summer, the site of the lakes of Ardres is a pleasure to visit for walkers. Marked trails with wooden pontoons, picnic tables laid out here and there, a pedal boat rental service and even a children’s leisure park invite you to relax and discover this preserved site.
In summer, the lake lives to the rhythm of events and festivities: spectacular fireworks on July 14, sports races, guided tours.

A remarkable natural space

Formerly a marsh area, this site was born from a traditional exploitation of peat which continued until the middle of the 19th century, when this means of heating was abandoned in favor of coal. The lake then became an elegant place for walking and fishing of significant interest – both touristic and environmental.

Its fauna and flora typical of wetlands make it an exceptional place. Come feed the ducks and pet the horses and goats and learn more about the plants that enhance this lake at the Maison de la Nature! Located rue des Rainettes, it is a place of discovery and learning about nature protection. Workshops are regularly organized there for families and schoolchildren.
