Guînes (Giezene in Flemish) is a French commune located in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region. Its residents are called Guinois. The town of Guînes, once the capital of a county that has not been without renown in history, is situated on the slope of the plateau that separates Boulonnais from Calaisis, at the edge of the marshy plain, now perfectly reclaimed, which extends to the seashore.

La Colonne Blanchard, named after the aeronaut Jean-Pierre Blanchard and located in the state forest, has been listed as a historical monument since April 19, 1972. The column stands at the place where the first men to cross the English Channel by air landed on January 7, 1785.
